Seton School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship

Dear Seton School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship Applicant,

The Seton School of Nursing Alumnae Association is proud to continue their support of Seton employees who are seeking a degree in professional nursing. Applications for those practicing nurses who are returning to graduate school to pursue a higher degree will also be considered. Through these scholarships, the tradition of compassionate and professional nursing care taught by the Daughters of Charity at the Seton School of Nursing from 1902 to 1963 is passed on and continues into the future.

Scholarship applications are now available for the 2013 academic year. To be eligible you must be a Seton employee enrolled or accepted in an accredited undergraduate or graduate nursing program during this school year. Full-time, part-time and PRN employees must have been hired on or before March 11, 2012 and have had at least one annual performance evaluation. PRN employees must have worked a minimum of 288 hours. Volunteers need to have completed at least 208 volunteer hours of volunteer service with Seton over the last 18 months.

Scholarships are designated to help cover the cost of tuition or other related expenses. Payment will be made directly to the recipient through payroll. Recipients are expected to maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, May 6, 2013.

Please submit your application with supporting documentation (letters of reference and transcript) together. The following must accompany the application form:

  • At least two letters of recommendation (including one from your immediate supervisor at Seton)
  • Proof of acceptance into an accredited school of nursing undergraduate or graduate program
  • A transcript for all previous course work including the name(s) of college(s) or university (ties) attended.

Interviews will be scheduled with selected applicants on Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 and should last 20-30 minutes. Recipients will be notified of the decisions of the committee by early July. Recognition of the SSNA Scholarship recipients will be made at a yet to be determined date. Each recipient will be notified.
