Seton Recognized for National Leadership
U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius has made preventing hospital-acquired conditions that lead to readmissions a key element in the government’s health care cost containment strategy. The Secretary visited Seton on Friday, May 6 to congratulate Seton on our internationally recognized accomplishments in reducing the incidence of birth trauma, pressure ulcers and deaths following heart attack. A jointly authored Op-ed by the Secretary and Seton President and CEO Charles J. Barnett was featured in the Austin American-Statesman online edition on Sunday, May 7. Sebelius toured neonatal intensive care unit at Seton Medical Center Austin. She spoke with a mother of triplets who did a great deal of research before choosing SMCA as to deliver her babies.
