I've asked you to visit because I need your help.  I am running my first half marathon and need your support.  My goal is $500 and I can not get there without your help. 

First some background on why I am crazy enough to want to run:

I had the opportunity to watch my dad run the Napa marathon in March of last year.  It wasn't his first marathon, but it was his 60^th birthday, so a milestone, none the less.  I was reminded of how much I love to run and caught myself wondering why I hadn't run in such a long time.  I used to run cross country in high school, but haven't run in 20 years!  So, when I saw the email from Mary about 26 Miles for 26 Charities, and the Austin Marathon, I thought, why not?  I submitted my application and was immediately part of a group that runs for not only the joy of running, but so we can help others.  I am not running the full 26 miles, since I haven't run in such a long time, I decided to start a little smaller, so I will be running the half marathon, a mere 13.2  miles. :)

The charity that I am running for is Seton Southwest and the Seton Fund.  The Seton Fund is a wonderful resource that helps fund all Seton facilities in Austin and the surrounding area.  I am the financial coordinator at the Seton Heart Specialty Care and Transplant Center at Seton Medical Center Austin.  I take care of all the insurance issues and help people that cannot financially make it on their own.  If our patients cannot afford their yearly deductible, if they cannot afford their medications, we help them.  The Seton Fund helps so many patients, in so many ways, in so many places.  

Seton Southwest is a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals. It is a small community not-for-profit hospital that has been proudly serving Southwest Austin for 10 years. The hospital has achieved outstanding success and is one of the Austin leaders with hospital patient satisfaction and loyalty. The hospital has also been a strong leader in innovative methods to improve efficiency and patient throughput with Emergency Room door to doctor times some of the best in the country. As part of the Seton family, Seton Southwest serves to support a strong mission to provide quality healthcare to central Texas with a special concern for the most vulnerable in our community.

For those that have known me for awhile, you know that I don’t say it unless it's true.  I don't endorse it or promote it unless I believe in it.  I believe in this charity.  Without it, lots of people would go without the medical care that they need.
